Tribewanted ‘The Guardian Travel’s experiment of the Year’
Filed Under The ramblings of a creative consultant | Leave a Comment
Tribewanted has been featured in The Guardian’s Travel paper and has referred to the project as the ‘experiment of the year’. The full text is:
Take a twentysomething entrepreneur, a paradise island in the South Pacific, a troupe of adventurers tuning in from offices across the world, then add a pinch of internet pseudo-democracy, and you’ve got Tribewanted. Each member of the “tribe” pays a yearly fee, which entitles them to a week on Vorovoro, a tiny outcrop just off Fiji’s second biggest island, where the group has its own village, and also an ongoing vote on all tribal decisions. Sound like a documentary waiting to happen? It is: the BBC series airs in January.
It’s a huge flippin’ honour as the guy who came up with the concept of tribewanted to have the Guardian give it such a title… woohoo.. exciting times and I cannot wait for the documentary to come out.

Mark Bowness is completely and utterly loving Bebo
Filed Under The ramblings of a creative consultant | 2 Comments

I had an awesome day yesterday as I headed over to London straight to Carnaby Street, the home of Bebo to chat with Dan Hewitt the guy who is in charge of business development at Bebo.
You may remember that I worked with Bebo on www.bebo.com/60seconds, which was a competition that the Liverpool Culture Cafe team won. After this competition I made contact with Dan Hewitt who develops the business aspects of Bebo.
Bebo is a fantastic social networking site which is really standing out in the social networking world. Bebo are developing online soaps such as Kate Modern, which has become a real hit. Bebo have also launched an exciting competition with Endemol whereby six lucky Bebo users will win a competition to travel the World, filmed by Endemol and videos will be uploaded on to the Bebo site. Bebo users will also get to interact with these explorers along the way. Find out more on www.bebo.com/thegapyear
There was a lot to discuss with Bebo and I particularly wanted to bring to their attention one project which I am working with some clients on next year which involves theme parks, a very popular UK band and some other exciting aspects. I am afraid I cant really say much more than that. But it is quite a big concept! Needless to say Bebo were very interested and I am hoping that we can sign a deal with them soon.
More to follow… But Bebo rocks!

Dear anonymous e-mailer (cyber-bully strikes again)…
Filed Under The ramblings of a creative consultant | Leave a Comment
Many thanks for your e-mail which I received at roughly 11pm Saturday night. As you did not state your name or your e-mail address I thought it would be best to reply on my blog.
Your message consisted of the following:
“i can see you are up to your old tricks again its jem here………..i need to stop this before its starts mark james or is it mark bowness? i need to bring another report out again..”
As soon as I received your e-mail I forwarded it to an individual who I have made communication with which started a few months ago, Jem Matzan, author of the Jem report which you speak about.
Jem’s response to your anonymous e-mail was as follows:
“Not me. I virtually never leave comments on blogs, even anonymously. I also would have capitalized my own name. And now that I have an email address for you, if I were going to write something about you, I’d certainly at least ask for comments. In fact, I hereby promise that if I ever write anything about you, your work, or Tribewanted — an extremely unlikely scenario — I’ll get in touch with you before it publishes.
Most likely it’s someone who thinks they can scare you. Same old people up to the same old tricks.”
So clearly you are not the Jem that you speak about. However, the real Jem Matzan added a hint of wisdom in his last sentence, which I assume is pretty much accurate.
Therefore, anonymous e-mailer, I would suggest that you put your effort and energy into fulfilling your own dreams rather than seeking to undermind someone elses.
Mark James Bowness.
