The news that one of the people of Mali, a man who became deeply involved with the tribewanted project, has passed away, has shocked and upset tribemembers around the World.

My sister, Sara-Jane, who has been on the island for 12 months had the following to say:

So shocked and saddened by the news.

Peter was such a strong, big man yet he had a gentle touch, a gracious nature and true wisdom, all with an amazing smile.

He put his arms around all at Tribewanted and made us family from the start, he worked unbelievable hard with us and taught us and me personally so much.

I have so many lovely memories of Peter, that show the man he was, but my favourite, was to watch this ‘gentle giant’ play with his children, to see his face light up and the love and respect on his children’s, so very special.

His wife is now left with 8 beautiful children, I received an email from this eldest daughter Kesa this morning, it ended with ‘Sis, I need to tell you my Dad passed away last night’ how do you respond with the words, it is her and Tale 19, now the man of that big family, who need our full support.

To show how much Peter meant to us and to show our gratitude for all this man gave us, we must now do our best to look after his family.

To my Fijian family, my love to you all, I am with you in spirit.
We lost a great man, friend and Tata yesterday…

Vinaka vaka levu Peter,

Rest in peace,

Sj X
